When completing this painting I relied heavily on Girault Pastels.They are the perfect consistency- soft enough to use broad strokes for layering, and hard enough for fine detail. They have become both my "workhorse" and my finishing touches. The complexity of Girault darks was vital in conveying the shadows and setting up the flow of light over the objects.
